These are my Columbia Road market spoils…. pink peonies, ranunculus, sweet peas and a hydrangea. Albeit that the hydrangea barely made the trip home in the overwhelming bank holiday heat.
The graffiti shot is to take the edge off the bubblegum sweetness of bouquet with peonies and ranunculus. The symbolic meaning of peonies, a much requested bridal bloom, varies from east to west. In Japanese and Eastern mythologies they hold a meaning of good fortune and riches. However to Victorians, peonies meant anger, thankfully countered by the meaning of ranunculus which is ‘you are radiant with charms’.
